Customs Directors Conference held on July 14 and July 15th

Customs Directors Conference took place on July 15 and July 15th for 1, 5 at the Khyber hall of Ministry of Finance. Customs Director’s conference was opportunity for Director General to provide update on the progress of the customs reform and for Customs Directors to discuss issues taking place on the customs borders and inland customs houses. Main issues pointed by the directors were lack of physical infrastructure, security, especially in the southeast region and the lack of cargo handling equipment and scanners. The highlight of the first day of the Customs Director’s conference was signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Minister of Finance and Minister of Interior on managing the borders. This MoU replaces the one signed three years ago which had three years validity. Signing of the MoU generated a lot of interest from the media, there were 16 TV stations present. |

Taking of the Oath by the Customs Directors took place on the second day. The Oath was read by the Deputy Minister of Finance and then repeated by all Director General, Deputy Director Generals and all Customs Directors. Everyone then signed the Oath in front of the Minister of Finance. The Oath is downloaded to the portal as deliverable.
